CARCASS COMPETITION
ALFA Online 2021-Pork Program
1 May – 23 August 2021
NAMPO/ALFA 2021-Pork Program at NAMPO Park
30 September – 2 October 2021
The pork industry is one of the most dynamic sectors of South African agriculture and is fast growing despite facing numerous challenges. From the get-go, a pork exhibition has been a feature at ALFA. It started small but has grown over the years and resulted in the largest pork carcass competition in the history of South African agriculture in 2020. We are building on this legacy at the NAMPO/ALFA 2021 expo to present the largest pork industry event of the year. The program will aim to be the largest networking opportunity for the industry, and promote performance testing, technology, and the use of superior genetic material.
IN COLLABORATION WITH

CARCASS COMPETITION
Pork producers across South Africa are offered an opportunity to participate in this unique competition – one of the 2021 ALFA Online program highlights. The competition runs over two weeks at 13 different abattoirs across eight provinces. The list of participating abattoirs with specific dates for slaughtering is found below.
THE PURPOSE OF THE COMPETITION IS:
To promote pork among South African consumers,
and to promote carcass quality of South African pork through expert feedback to producers.
